Glitter & Chalk: Overcoming Injuries

Written by

Glitter here, you can thank Chad for that one! I’m pretty excited about my training right now and pleased with the progress we’re making.  After Americans back in December, I was stoked and ready to get back to training.  I pushed hard and we even tried to add back squats back in, something we hadn’t done in almost a year because of my back and bulging disc.  The goal was to get some overall strength back into the cycle because I was definitely lacking there, unfortunately adding the back squats backfired on me and my back had a pretty bad flare up.  For the next 2 months or so I was stuck with bar work and movements, rehab, stretching, and rest. (Thank you Dr. Jill!) I didn’t even get to squat much to keep strength up, something I battle with as is.  I would have days I felt great and would give some light weight a shot, and two sets in I’d be searching for ice… Boooo.  Then finally, I saw some improvement and one morning my body was like ‘Oh hey! I think you’ve had enough rest and I’m ready to corporate and work now!’ Thank goodness.  So it has been about 1.5-2 months now of some solid work!  My movements are feeling great and improving everyday, though I still just feel overall weak.  Still no back squats for me, but getting as much work and strength in as possible with front squats 3xweek.  A couple weeks ago we even started some 2xday sessions back just to break up the work load for my body.  I’m not sure what numbers I’ll be at by Nationals, but I’m sure as hell going to do as much as I’m ready for and can push!  Our body’s are amazing and I know with the adrenaline I’ll be feeling great that day no matter what 😉

On a side note, I wanted to wish our Pan Am team leaving out this week GOOD LUCK and kick some ass!!!
Now back to The Garage for some Ke$ha and Kilos to throw around!
